Indian Air Force Crash of Combat Aircraft Statistics

Indian Government News | May 11, 2007
The Defence Forces have lost 29 combat aircraft in accidents during the period April 2004 to 31st March, 2007.
The year-wise details are as follows:
2004-2005: 13
2005-2006: 8
2006-2007: 8
Total: 29
Out of these 29 combat aircraft lost, eight were MiG-21s, six were Jaguars, four were MiG-27s, three were MiG-29s, four were Mirages, one was a Bison and three were Sea Harriers.

Must be the only Defence Force in the world where the Air Force is in more danger than the Infantry!!

The Indian Airforce has so many clapped out Soviet Era planes still flying that it is lucky there hasn't been more crashes.
Many of their aircraft just would not get a C of A in any western country.
I guess they battle on with their junk for financial reasons, as modern replacement costs are awsome.

As a matter of fact, I think that is exactly what will happen. They are the only logical country that can take them.
They can't be sold to some scumbag African country or South America, without de stabilising the whole region.
India/Pakistan/Bangladesh is already destabilised.
