SASR sticks to its post
Edition 1175, September 20, 2007
AUSTRALIA Post has honoured the 50th year since the raising of 1SAS Company in 1957 with the release of a special commemorative stamp issue.
The stamp and cover were unveiled in Perth in early September and are now available at most Australia Post outlets.
Marking the regiment?s contribution to Australia?s military history, the 50 cent stamp issue will include one stamp, a stamp and coin cover, first day cover, stamp pack and maxicard.
The stamp (above) features imagery of two SAS troopers patrolling in the foreground, with background imagery of several troopers alighting from a chopper and one parachuting into action.
All products are available at participating Australia Post outlets while stocks last or by mail order on 1800 331 794.

There is a move afoot in UK for the Royal Mail to produce stamps bearing the pictures of those UK servicemen and women who have been killed in Iraq/Afganistan. A fitting tribute.

Permission is being requested, so far no families have objected. The Queen is also fully supportive of the idea.
