I need a name for this guy please. he is wearing an SAS beret and a Bronze Cross of Rhodesia and a RGSM.

What interests me is the
Bronze Cross of Rhodesia this person is wearing. There were only 131 ever awarded of which
97 went to whites and the other 34 went to Africans. Only 9 were ever
awarded to the RhSAS.

I believe this man is a conartist please have a good look and PM me any names you think of and i can get them verified by experts

Have you any idea when and where this photograph was taken? How old would the guy be now? He looks a lot like the late father of a friend of mine - (his father is "late" but he may have family)

His name is John Pierce. He claims to have been an exRhodieSAS member, a member of C Sqn, a Selous Scout as a Tracker and a member of 2Para, Brit Para, all lies and it has been confirmed by C Sqn members and by the Secretary of Special Forces South Africa that this person NEVER served in the Rhodesian or South African Special Forces at any time.
He sells fake medals and militaria on EBAY using the names RhodieSAS, musicjack123 and DeltaExecetive plus jackrussell194

this man sells fake militaria on ebay using the name rhodieSAS
when buyers complain he sends nasty emails from musicjack123 or jackrussell194. all these emails came via aol

i have been advised that he is currently under investigation by C Sqn
RhodesianSAS for falsely claiming to be an exmember of their regiment and other south african regiments

i recently purchased militaria from this man and when i complained i was threatened by email by someone calling himself DELTA, that email came from smiler@squadron-lines.net, this has been forwarded to my IP complaints department

Pierce is now using the name William Bodie to continue his dubious activities

I just did a quick search on William Bodie and what is funny is that William Bodie is actually a character on an old BBC show called "The Professionals". If you read the character profile on William Bodie (character) and sit it side by side with John Pierce; you can see that this walt is living in a fanatasty world.

Many people claim to be many things that they are not. The current worldwide phenomenon of people pretending to have done military service has only been intensified by the availability of the internet. Some people seem to be surprised by these phoneys and their claims. I'm not and you shouldn't be. How many people has one met that has made claims to all sorts of things ie., been a black belt in martial arts, served in the military, been a champion at sport etc., and most of their claims are unsubstantiated. Most impostors of military service do it for one or two reasons. The person possibly believes that they command a certain amount of respect and standing by claiming that he/she served in the military. Of course the more elite the regiment that the person claims to have served in the more respect and/or adulation that he/she receives. The second reason is for financial benefit and normally by claiming benefits that he/she is not entitled to.

John Pierce is a classic example of today's military impostor. He fooled enough people in the area that he lived that he was a former British SAS, Parachute Regiment and a Rhodesian SAS soldier. On forums on the internet he also claimed that he was a former member of the famed Rhodesian Selous Scouts Regiment and had served in both the Selous Scouts and Rhodesian SAS during the Rhodesian Bush War. He first came to my attention many years ago when he started selling fake Rhodesian militaria on ebay but claiming that the items were genuine. They weren't! His next biggest mistake was when he tried to sell a fake Bronze Cross of Rhodesia (BCR) on ebay that was named to one of the most decorated soldiers that had served in the Bush War. The BCR was the third highest award for gallantry and in 14 years of war, only 131 were ever awarded. Without going into enormous detail, the medal was a fake and after enough pressure he withdrew it from sale. Why is this important? He was not the only one who sold fakes. Simple, he made money from the public persona that he had created which was that of a veteran. On his listings it was always that he had found the item in a box of Rhodesian militaria that he had found in his house, or it came from a close relative who had served there. However in his personal messages when asked questions about the item, he quite often mentioned HIS service in Rhodesia, which of course was untrue.

John Pierce attended the Armistice Day parade in Porthleven, Cornwall about 3-4 years ago. At that parade, he posed with some others to have his photo taken. A person in England sent me a copy of the photo and asked if I knew the chap wearing the Rhodesian medals. The BCR wearer, ie John Pierce was obviously not entitled to wear it or the Rhodesian General Service Medal. So started the file on Pierce.
The person ultimately responsible for Pierce's exposure to The Sun newspaper knows who he is and should be commended for a job well done.
The ironical thing with a lot of these impostors is that after they are exposed they make pathetic statements such as, "I didn't mean any harm" or "No malice was meant." You draw your own conclusions.

P.S. I notice that I have had a ribbon added to my signature and that this particular ribbon is presented to members who have served in their countries armed forces but are now discharged. Australia is my country and I have never served in this country's military, so please feel free to remove it. Thank you.
