Afghanistan our next war we are fighting whats your thoughts?

AQ is the foremost dangerous terrorist organization in the world. With AQs' ability to carry out large scale operations of terror on a global scale directly or their material support to lesser known terror groups; they pose a clear threat to our national security.

We must endevour to deprive AQ with the means of carrying out or support terrorist attacks. This can only be achieved by shutting down the group with lethal force. AQ once held Afghanistan as a country where they could plan and prepare their attack abroad; now with a coalition presence in the area AQ have been forced underground making their plans that much harder to carry out.

We should keep our presence in Afghanistan to not only prevent a murderous regime such as the Taliban regaining power but also as a means to defend ourselves from a structured terrorist organization.

I agree but i can see we will suffer far more loses for years to come, and they dig deep in the mountains. I can't see us making a difference, only cornering the animals.

That will sadly happen as we are fighting a war; however we have to understand that if we lose one soldier, how many civilian lives are we going to save?

A strong and in depth commitment to our operations in Afghanistan will as you said Kiwi corner the AQ elements. We can never utterly destroy AQ; they will continue to pop up here or there. The best measure we can take is by taking the war and the awesome power of the coalition to where ever they surface.
