Philippines army says it has captured rebel camp
An army commander in the northern Philippines says his troops have captured and important Communist rebel camp.
Lieutenant-General Rodrigo Maclang says the base is deep in the mountains straddling three northern provinces.
It took a week of fighting for the troops to capture it.
General Maclang says two soldiers were killed and six others were wounded.
He says troops found assault rifles, ammunition and the body of one rebel in one of the bunkers.
They also saw the guerrillas fleeing with some wounded comrades.
General Maclang says he expects the New People's Army guerrillas to retaliate.
