220th Airlift Wing celebrates 35th anniversary - Philippine Air Force
Mactan-based 220th Airlift Wing of the Philippine Air Force awarded top performing units and personnel Monday in a ceremony celebrating its 35th anniversary.
Awarded in the presence of acting Air Force chief MAJ GEN MICHAEL MENDOZA who represented PAF commander LT GEN PEDRITO CADUNGOG who is on a foreign trip, were CPT DAVE REYES (Officer of the Year), TSg Constantino Enrique R. Lobrigas (Non Commissioned Officer of the Year), Sgt Jebelito Pocong (Airman of the Year) Mrs. Nena Mendoza (Civilian Employee of the Year), 222nd Airlift Squadron (Tactical Squadron of the Year) and 471st Field and Depot Maintenance Squadron (Support Squadron of the Year).
Also awarded with a Bronze Cross Medal, for risking his life aboard a Nomad N-22 in conducted cloud seeding and seed dispersal operations in Luzon during the drought of 2006, was MAJ FERDINAND TORRES. MSg Arnold Secusana’s exemplary performance earned for him a Certificate of Recognition. He graduated with honors in a field of 61 students during the just concluded Joint AFP Sergeant Majors Course held at the AFP Command General Staff College (CGSC) in Camp Aguinaldo, Quezon City. Retiree Delfin Terne’s 30-years of service that ended last March 25 was also honored with a Certificate of Honorable Service.
On hand to assist MGEN MENDOZA were top area commanders led by newly-installed 2nd Air Division Commander BGEN NATHANIEL C LEGASPI, 205th Helicopter Wing Commander BGEN ARTHUR MANCENIDO, 560th Air Base Wing Commander BGEN BUTCH LACSON and BGEN JAIME LARGO, commander of the celebrating unit.
